International tournament promoting the ancient Thracian city of Mesambria Pontica. It is one of the oldest cities in Europe. The ancient city of Mesambria Pontica, called Mesambria in the late Middle Ages and later Nessebar, was inhabited millennia ago, at the end of the Bronze Age. It was founded about 3000 years BC by the Thracians and is considered the city in Bulgaria with the most preserved architectural monuments from the Middle Ages. According to various legends, there were about 40 churches in Nessebar, and today there are records of 23 of them. Curiously, according to ancient data, the legendary author of fables Aesop was born in Mesambria around 620 BC and was of Thracian origin. In 1983 UNESCO inscribed Old Nessebar on the List of World Heritage Sites. Today, the significant coastal strip and its diverse character create favourable conditions for the development of tourism, which is a leading branch of the economy and makes Nessebar the largest tourist agglomeration on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.
The tiebreaker system will be: 1. Baumbach, 2. Sonnenborn-Berger, 3. The results of the players tied with each other and 4. The lowest rating at the start of the tournament.
