The Preliminaries of the 22nd Olympiad

Sunday, December 15, 2019: have been started

48 National Federations entered their team.

There are 5 Sections, 3 with 10 teams and 2 with 9 teams.

The Sections were assembled with a random controlled draw, taking into consideration the strength of the teams.

The best two teams in each Section will qualify for the Final.

Here are some highlights:

• Official start-date: January 13, 2020

• TD: Sect. 1 and 2: IA Juan Alberto Martello (ARG); Sect. 3 and 4: IA Ian A. Pheby (ENG); Sect. 5: IA Michael Millstone (USA)

• 6 players in each team (i.e. 288 players for a total of 1242 games)

• Board 1: category from IX to X; board 2: category from VIII to IX; board 3: category from VI to VIII; board 4: category from IV to VII; board 5: category from V to VII; board 6: category from III to IV

• 28 GM; 70 SIM; 73 IM; 73 CCM; 21 CCE; 1 FIDE GM
